Lately, at life drawing, I have really fallen back some notches. Maybe I am saturated with it, or maybe my mind is not focused. Maybe I am too far back (12-15 ft), or working differently. I feel I've regressed in any case. I have only one half decent drawing of this interesting man whose face I really enjoy drawing, and although it does capture his essence, it is not perfectly what I see. He is off a bit because I probably was drawing it from his slightly different head angles that may have occurred during the pose. We have him the next 2 weeks so I am going to buckle down, sit in a closer spot (get there earlier) and really try to get a good drawing. I think this man is in his mid 40s to very early 50s, but I am not sure. It's hard to tell with him. Funny enough, I recall about 2 yrs ago receiving an email from a man by the same name, around that age, asking me to do a full figure life painting of him but it fell thorugh when I repsonded that my husband would need to accompany me to his place to take the reference images I'd need ( I declined working from life at his place). I highly doubt it was him, that'd be a huge coincidence, but it came to my mind anyway yesterday, on the way home. The reason I thought there was a chance is the person lived north of TO and they were also an artist, which this model is.
This weekend, I hope to get yard work in, and some work on my commission as well as some drawing done on my latest canvas. I need to get my butt in gear.
We have our billiards playoffs soon too so I want to get in some extra practice and I need to run the weekend by our team so I can find out everyone's tentative availability. If we get in to first, however, we'll get a by to the Regionals and it won't matter :-) We have 4 more weeks to do that.
